Java Trip: Move Back on Time at Museum Train of Ambarawa

I remember onced my Father said, He used to bring my brother to the train station to see the train. This train things somehow bring me back to the past, to the nostalgic feeling of the past. Time changes things, but in Indonesia it changes so slowly. About twenty years ago I use train from Bandung to Jakarta. The sound of machine is creaking and the constant slow movement through the black tunnel. The smell of the steam, the nasi goreng on the plate consist my transitory in my memory.

The train in Indonesia has very long track  from 1880's and has its important meaning in economic development but also the exchanging of people mind, languague and culture. The development intesively in the Island of Java, and this activity is still very important. Our transit from Semarang to the great Borobudur, and my transitory journey in small town called Ambarawa to visit Train Museum.

Ambarawa was the barrack of colonial army, this station was used to connect provision from inland to the port of Semarang. The station later in 1976 was stop operated and became a Museum. This Museum was an old station complete with the railway, train and station. This museum also operated the old track between Ambarawa into Tuntang and you have opportunity passing the beautiful mountain of Ungaran and Merbabu with steam engine.

We don't found any of information or maybe we are too late to go to Tuntang. Having go around the museum there was plenty of collection with lack of information. The good things about lack of information, it gave me plenty of space for own imagination. This empty space of this museum gives me room for my story.

Before writing this article,  I also dreamt about a station. The station is big, with classic Indonesian architecture style. i have a feeling about the train is waiting for me to go. I also imagine that live has a track like a train. You can changed from one point to another point from the station. You can switch your train or even take back to the previous station.

The Flower

On train you can get new friend on the journey, leave your friend on the station. Going out for a second to buy food or smoke a smoke, to sleep in train or even in station. Along the way there is non-stop moving, and the station is somehow the place to make the path for the future. Whether you want to stay in the town, buy new ticket or just sit for another train.

Darjeeling India

Watching the movie of Darjeeling Limited giving me an idea to take my brothers going to India. The train is literally rolling through a fruit shop, The route between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeelling has an honour to be World Heritage site by UNESCO.
