Curug Penganten: Waterfall in Bandung that You Can Enjoy by Yourselves
Today I will do a little advanture not far from Bandung. I
have no idea about this place called Curug Panganten, it just abou 12 km from
my place and there is a waterfall. It's
quite irony common that the place that were close with our home is tend to be
missed. I've been exploring around the globe, but I haven't explore my home
city yet. So when my friend was coming; Tutus, Pepenk and Temi we off to go in
the morning.
Curug Panganten |
The way to this waterfall are on Cihanjuang Road, from
Bandung take the road of Gegerkalong straight to Sariwangi and then Cihanjuang.
Get to the north aroun 8 km and turn left to Katumiri Residence. Inside this
residential area there is Katumiri Camp the place for doing outbound activity.
That was closed because of Ramadhan month. We still can get in for free and
then asking for direction to the waterfall.
Beware the road is unpaved, wild, and dangerous |
There are no clear sign to the waterfall, based on the
unscaled map in the middle of Katumiri. From small warung, we go on unpaved
road. We have no idea on how the waterfall looks like, or the way will be. It
turn out to be slippery and steep road. A little rain was coming, and it could
be more difficullt to us to continue. Thankfully the rain was stop, and we went
through in.
Beautiful valley just inch away from town |
On the way, surprisingly with one stone away from the city there
were wild life. We can listen to the sound of cricket, dragonfly were flying
around, and squirrel on the cliff. Even from the far we could see the monkey
hanging around. On the way we could see beautiful valley, it just amazing how
nature lie in the valley. We were too excited and we found out the road was on
the edge and there was no road left. We only saw the lush cliff with unseenable
waterfall. We assumed it was there, we took a photo and then going back. It
turned out not be what we expected to be.
Wrongly taken as the Curug Panganten |
On my way back, I met a local people who collected wild
grass for their livestock. It is small and already broken sign that we should
take humble bamboo bridge across. And then we walk along with a little stream
ahead. Then we found out a little hut with supposed to be an officer here. But
there is noone and then we finally see the real waterfall. How wonderful the
sound and it was around 50 metre high.
We went down, and feel refreshed by it.
The meaning is Bride Waterfall |
Actually this waterfall hava tragic story. Once this placed named
as curug sewu but not so long ago there were a newlywed couple went here. They
were lost here and they chaged named with Curug Panganten which mean
"Bride Waterfall." It is said
there were the sound of gamelan in this area, but the sourced of the sound
can't be found. But we don't stick to the story, and had the waterfall only by
ourself. The exploration completed!
The hide & seek of the valley.. How adorablee♡=*
