6 Best Budget and Delicious Food in Bali

Bali has a lot of dining option. From rich and diverse Balinese local food to the expatriate who give variance into international food. Some of them are in radar of tourist and become cult of Balinese dining. From Jimbaran into Nuri's Rib and Oka Babi Guling somehow the quality had became overrated and too crowded to be enjoyed. Here is the place that still out of radar and have reasonable price to dine.

Gusto Gelato

 

They have outdoor place to hang around. After walking in hot beach Bali, this is the miracle!

This is the best Gelato you can find in the Bali island. When I was check what things to do in Kerobokan area, I found out the Gusto on number 1 list cafe. After lovely walk in Echo Beach, me and my mother infected with gelato thirst. Came out disapointed, they are closed on Sunday.

I didn't give up, on Monday I'm back on six o'clock one hour before closed.  Once I saw the variety of 32 flavor of gelatos, I really get confused. Would I ate the the fresh fruit of sorbet or the other half classic ice cream. I want both so me and my mother other medium three flavor of  coffee,  mascarpone and crunchy bites, and the passion fruit sorbet.

Better taste it all! They even have kemangi taste!

Fresh ingredients, zero synthetic product,  Gusto is run by Italian & French couple. The review is right, this ice cream is the best. I can't describe how it taste well, but me and my mother is crazy for it. After having 3 taste, I still need to came back at least 10 times to taste them all! Yummy!

Babi Guling Ada

Forget overhyped Ibu Oka and Chandra if you can get this babi guling. Babi Guling is roasted pork and usually with crunchy skin, vegtable with cocounut urap, chilli sauce, traditional sausage with rice. This babgul have thick pork meat and also served with the soup. The main reason why this babgul is so good is the place. This babgul have wonderful spot in Unesco heritage of Jatiluwih. I gave a big plus for the view and the price is moderate and not overpriced.

This crunchy skin and the rice is mixed between red and white rice.

Belayat Karang Asem

Located in the main road of Amlapura, this food stall started in the late afternoon around  5 o'clock. This beautiful simple stall is run by beautiful lady, she's already aged but she has beautiful essence of Balinnese food. Imagine that how Balinnese have high appreciation on spirit and they made it on canang, this spirit can be tasted here.

Here is the mastermind of belayat

There is no signboard, no price tag, Ibu dressed in Ballinese dress gives us about twenty's choise of lauk(course) that we can mixed. We can chose rice or belayat the compressed rice on leaf. This belayat has unique fragrance and texture which can be found her stall, the lauk is also very delicious. The pindang ( salted fish with chilli sauce) and the chicken opor has thick santan sauce.  This eating experience give you the soul of humble yet Balinese culture.

Nook

Cool and cozy place in the middle of paddy field had been chic place in Bali. Over development has changed the face of Bali topography so fast, once a beautiful secret place in the paddy field two years later had already been in concrete jungle everywhere.

Wait a minute, this Nook's in Umalas is the hidden gem in Bali. This cafe have affordable price, high quality food and service with cozy place will made you want to get back again and again. The nasi campur vegtable has its Balinese characteristic food of urap, tempes, perkedel. I choose the western curry brutwurs with very strong spice on curry which also very good food. Really reccomended place to hang out.

Mak Beng

This food stall had been in Sanur since 1941, it must be something special about this old food stall. This warong has simple and humble place with picture of celebirty around. They only have one menu, a rice with fried fish and fish soup.  You can say the fish are definitely fresh! Soft and fresh. The soup, very- very savory, with a taste of spices and chili. Cucumber and Starfruit also added to the soup. The fried fish is very simple with tasty and hot chilli sauce. While you were here you can visit the Le Mayeur gallery with old Balinese compund house.
